At Oarai Sun Beach in Ibaraki, one of Japan’s most stunning sandy beaches overlooking the Pacific Ocean, I joined a fantastic grassroots race where vintage bikes and hot rods roared across the sand.

目の前に太平洋を望む日本屈指の砂浜、茨城県の大洗サンビーチにて、ビンテージバイクとホットロッドが砂浜を疾走するステキな草レースに参加しました。

The rules were simple: a straight-up, head-to-head sprint on the sand, with the faster rider advancing in a tournament-style showdown. I raced on a 1956 Triumph TR6 Desert Sled.

ルールは簡単で、タイマンで砂浜をまっすぐ走って、速かったほうが勝ち残るトーナメント制。
わたしは 1956年製Triumph TR6 Dessert Shled で出走しました。

Our team, DIRTCORE SESSIONS, is based in western Japan. My teammate, Nishikawa-san, competed not only on a motorcycle but also with his hot rod.

チームは、西日本で活動するDIRTCORE SESSIONS。チームメイトは西川さん。彼はオートバイ以外にもホットロッドでも出走しました。

Our team lineup was nothing short of spectacular, featuring vintage motorcycle shops TigerWorks and GREED, as well as the talented creator, Shoji, as our mechanics.

メカニックとしてビンテージオートバイショップ「TigerWorks」と「GREED」、そしてクリエイターの Shojiさんという、超豪華なチーム編成となりました。

Unfortunately, I was eliminated in the qualifiers, but the event was an absolute blast—two unforgettable days of pure racing joy.
レースの結果は残念ながら予選敗退となってしまったが、それでもとても楽しいイベントで大満足の2日間でした。
